Discipleship Groups

image: Small Groups

As followers of Jesus, we are His lifelong "disciples" - which means students or learners.  One of the best ways to grow as a disciple is to be part of a small group who meet together regularly.  These usually consist of 6-12 people from church, or those who want to know more about Christianity, who meet to share food, pray, discuss the Bible and develop deep friendships.

At Christchurch this is mainly organised through Tuesday Focus.  During term-time, we meet every week at 7pm in the church hall (Rodney Street entrance).  For the 2025-26 year, in most of our sessions we will be working our way through Mark's Gospel passage by passage.  If that time or location doesn't work for you, please speak to Rev Mark, as we are looking to launch other small group options in the coming year.

We also encourage everyone to develop the life-giving pattern of daily Bible reading and prayer.  See here for helpful ideas of how to get started.

Also, keep an eye out for our Super Saturday programme.  These are special intensive discipleship mornings when we go deeper into a book of the Bible or a special topic together.

Another key way to grow as a disciple is to serve on one of our teams.  These include:

  • Kids team
  • Youth team
  • Music team
  • Production team
  • Hospitality team
  • Communications team
  • Prayer team
  • Pastoral visiting team
If you're interested in joining one of these teams, or need help working out how you could use your gifts, have a chat with Rev Mark or one of the staff.
